Job Description
NANA Management Services (NMS) is seeking a Cook to provide essential meal services within the Juneau School District. This position is responsible for assisting with food preparation, serving nutritious meals to students and staff, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining environment, and ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations. The Food Service Worker plays a vital role in supporting the daily nutritional needs and overall well-being of the school community.
Responsibilities- Prepare daily meals according to production reports and menus using standardized recipes.
- Ensure food quality, portion control, and proper food handling and storage.
- Maintain kitchen sanitation and food safety standards.
- Direct Food Service Workers on daily prep, cleaning, and serving tasks.
- Complete inventory counts, production logs, and verify supply needs.
- Set up and monitor serving lines and ensure all areas are clean and stocked.
- Assist with deep cleaning projects and fill in for absent staff as needed.
- Operate independently while maintaining operational standards.
Schedule & Flexibility:
- Full-time position, typically 30–40 hours/week depending on participation levels and operational needs.
- Shift start times generally range from 6:00 to 6:30 a.m., with end times typically between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m.
- Must be flexible to fill in at different schools or adapt to schedule changes, including working independently when necessary.
Transportation:
- Reliable personal transportation is required; you may be reassigned to other school sites as needed.
- If directed to travel to another site after a shift has started
, mileage will be reimbursed at the current federal rate. You are responsible for your own fuel, maintenance, and personal auto insurance. - A daily mileage log must be submitted for reimbursement.
Additional Info:
- Must clock in/out within 5 minutes of shift start/end and be on-site when punching in.
- A 30-minute daily break is required and should be taken without disrupting kitchen operations.
- One employee meal (breakfast or lunch) is provided per shift.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 1 year of directly related food preparation or cooking experience.
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Preferred Requirements
- A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.
