The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for a full‑time Protective Service Specialist 4 located in Fairbanks, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing

The individual in this position is the bridge between management and front‑line protective services staff, while also acting as a resource within the office and community, and serving as a community liaison with other agencies. They supervise a number of caseworkers, assigning, reviewing and consulting on cases, and have a variety of administrative functions, as well as providing personnel management for their staff.

Working Environment You Can Expect

The Fairbanks Field Office serves the Fairbanks area, North Pole, as well as surrounding communities.

The Interior Rural Field Office serves approximately 30 rural communities in the Interior of Alaska. The home base location is in the Fairbanks Field office. This position requires frequent travel to rural communities in the interior, by car and plane.

The work we perform is critical and significantly impacts the communities we serve. As a result, the Office of Children's Services works on evenings and weekends as well as weekdays, so overtime and on‑call work are expectations of our workers.
