Job Overview
Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil & Gas is recruiting for an Analyst/Programmer in Anchorage, Alaska. The position is open to Alaska residents only. This highly technical IT role supports the development and maintenance of custom software applications, database management, and integration of third‑party systems critical to Alaska’s oil, gas, and geothermal resource management.

Atwood Building, 550 W. 7th Ave., Anchorage - Shift: Flexible within normal business hours
- Work Style:
Independent tasks and collaborative team work via ticketing system or supervisor assignments
• Work with analysts and programmers to develop, test, and maintain custom software applications in a highly technical environment.
• Provide database management and integration of third‑party applications for Alaska’s oil, gas, and geothermal resource management.
• Collaborate with technical and non‑technical staff across DOG, DNR, and SOA.
Key Competencies- Software Development – design, develop, test software.
- Analysis and Assessment – access, collect, analyze, and disseminate data.
- Database Management – design, control, and secure data.
- Software Testing and Evaluation – develop testing procedures.
- Technical Documentation – develop technical and operational documentation.
Analyst/Programmer 3 – Starting Salary $2,646.00
- Two years of computer programming experience in a recognized programming language.
- One year in a business, scientific, microcomputer, or information management application specialty.
- Currency substitution: B.A. in Computer Science or related major (18 semester / 24 quarter hours);
Associate’s degree substitution: 9 months of experience.
Analyst/Programmer 4 – Starting Salary $3,028.50
- Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized programming language.
- One year in a business, scientific, microcomputer, or information management application specialty.
- Currency substitution: B.A. in Computer Science or related major (18 semester / 24 quarter hours);
Associate’s degree substitution: 9 months of experience.
• Submit code samples or links to public repositories demonstrating clean, maintainable code.
• Provide transcripts if education is used to meet qualifications.
• Complete a programming exam during the interview process.
