Our organization, mission, and culture:

Our mission is to maintain safe, reliable infrastructure while prioritizing the well‑being of our community and team. We are dedicated to efficient road maintenance and emergency services, with a focus on collaboration, safety, and ongoing development. The State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities shares this commitment, working toward a modern, resilient transportation system. We believe that teamwork, communication, and coordination with community and private sector partners are key to successfully meeting our challenges and serving Alaskans.

Through continuous growth and collaboration, we strive to keep Alaska moving forward.

Working in Central Alaska offers a chance to be part of a rugged and breathtakingly remote region where the state’s heartland meets vast wilderness. This area includes small communities and expansive terrain, from the Yukon River valley to the rolling interior hills and boreal forests. Known for its extreme seasonal contrasts—midnight sun in summer and snowy solitude in winter—Central Alaska supports a lifestyle deeply connected to the land through hunting, fishing, and subsistence traditions.

As an Equipment Operator with the Department of Transportation, you’ll play a vital role in keeping critical transportation routes open year‑round, all while experiencing the profound beauty and resilience of Alaska’s interior.
