Position Specific Description
Florida Power & Light has an immediate need for an experienced Environmental Specialist who will work closely with Power Delivery’s Engineering & Technical Services and Central Maintenance & Construction organizations. This position is within the corporate Environmental Services department.
The applicant must have ability to manage projects through environmental due diligence and environmental permitting for Power Delivery’s brownfield and greenfield transmission, substation and distribution jobs. Primary responsibilities include supporting permitting strategy and assisting senior level team members with obtaining all required federal, state, and local environmental licenses, permits and approvals for Power Delivery projects. Other project support such as siting and field assessments will also be required.
The successful candidate must maintain current knowledge of pertinent federal and state level environmental policies and regulations. The applicant must also have the ability to effectively interface with internal and external customers, regulatory agencies, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders. He or she must be able to assist in resolving environmental matters that lead to ensuring compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations, as well as company policies.
The applicant should expect to drive continuous improvement throughout all areas of accountability. The successful candidate must be able to work long hours in the event of a storm, and exhibit behaviors consistent with our corporate values. The job location is five days a week onsite in Jupiter, Florida and some travel may be required within Florida.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides environmental permitting and compliance technical support to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations
- Identifies and mitigates environmental risks
- Supports root cause analysis of environmental events
- Coordinates environmental due diligence
- Coordinates oversight of environmental compliance
- Supports environmental permitting
- Provides project management support
- Communicates effectively about environmental permitting and issues
- Provides recommended solutions to environmental challenges to minimize environmental impact
- Develops environmental processes, procedures and environmental awareness training
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
