Primary Objective of Position
Provide supervision of participants, plan, organize and instruct activities at various locations across Bloomington in cooperation with the Summer Leadership Team and Recreation Supervisor.

- Provide a safe, fun and appropriate experience for all participants.
- Assist the Program Leads or Program Specialists in the planning, organizing and leadership of various activities at multiple sites and camps.
- Assume responsibility for leading specific programs or activities as delegated by Program Leads or Program Specialists.
- Assist in filling out weekly attendance reports and written post‑season evaluation of program and recommendations for next season.
- Prepare all reports required on participants, incidents and property damage.
- Provide support as needed for all participants and staff to create an inclusive environment.
- Work as a team member to ensure the program’s compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Minnesota Human Rights Act.
- Attend and participate in all staff trainings and meetings.
- Provide mentorship and work direction for Teen Volunteers.
- Follow staff policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all participants follow the established policies and procedures.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by Program Leads or Program Specialists.
- Adhere to and enforce state health guidelines.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must have extensive availability the entire season from June 8 – August 14, with limited time‑off requests.
- Must be able to attend staff training on June 10–12.
- Must have a means of transportation to and from assigned locations.
- Must successfully pass a Criminal Background Check.
- Must have experience working with children.
- High School or College student with 1+ years working in a community recreation or education program.
- Experience working with children.
- Knowledge and understanding of child behavior, ability to relate with and supervise children successfully.
- Ability to help with and plan a variety of recreation activities with preschool, elementary and junior‑high age youth; knowledge and skills in leading activities, including sports, indoor and outdoor games.
- Creativity in developing and implementing new program ideas.
- Willingness to learn about and support people with disabilities so they can participate fully in City‑sponsored Parks and Recreation programs.
Oversees participants registered within programs.
Conditions of EmploymentAnticipated Hiring Range: $16.67 – $19.61
2026 Seasonal Salary Range: $16.67 – $19.61

Bonus IncentivesCommitment Bonus: A seasonal employee who works until at least August 14th will receive $100 bonus on their final paycheck.
Referral Bonus: A seasonal employee who refers a new seasonal employee will receive $100 bonus on their final paycheck. Referral paperwork required within one week of employee’s start date and both employees must be employed for the entirety of the scheduled season to be eligible.
