The Opportunity

We are seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of Class 7 and Class 8 tractors, trailers, and related equipment. This position plays a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of MVE fleet operations and supports our terminals by minimizing breakdowns, improving asset longevity, and keeping equipment road‑ready.

• Perform maintenance and repair on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other fleet equipment using modern tools and diagnostic technology.
• Conduct routine services and adjustments on Class 7 and Class 8 diesel equipment to ensure vehicle reliability and readiness.
• Repair or rebuild mechanical components and systems as needed to maintain optimal equipment performance.
• Complete DOT‑mandated safety inspections and required documentation accurately and timely.
• Maintain compliance with DOT, EPA, OSHA, and applicable regulations to meet legal and safety standards.
• Stay current with industry technology and repair methods, maintaining proficiency in diagnostics and mechanical practices.
• Possession and use of personal hand tools for diesel and tractor‑trailer work is strongly preferred.
• Hydraulic system experience is preferred but not required.

• Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a shop environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to manage time efficiently and meet operational repair demands.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic components.
• Familiarity with DOT and OSHA compliance requirements.

• Education:
  
  2+ years of technical training or equivalent experience in diesel or heavy truck maintenance.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum 2 years of Class 8 truck repair or commercial fleet experience.
• Ability to obtain EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery & Recycling Certification (ASE, MACS, or equivalent) within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to work varying shifts including days, evenings, nights, and overtime as required.

• Compensation: $31.00 – $34.00 per hour based on experience and location.
• Classification:
  Non‑Exempt, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
