Maui District HLLM-(12-Month) Grade K-12 Special Education Complex Area Teacher, 604523 ) at Hawaii State Department of Education summary:
This position is for a K-12 Special Education Complex Area Teacher serving as a resource for students with disabilities across multiple schools within the Hana-Lahainaluna-Lanai-Molokai district. Responsibilities include providing in-service training, assisting with IEP meetings, and offering consultation and support to teachers, paraprofessionals, and families. The role requires a valid Special Education teaching license, experience in special education, and the ability to travel within the designated complex area.
Will serve as the resource for students with disabilities, under the immediate supervision of the District Educational Specialist and under the general supervision of the Complex Area Superintendent. The responsibilities will include: in-service training for teachers, paraprofessionals, families and service providers to enhance knowledge of special education, appropriate instruction and interventions, assistance and consultation to individual schools. The position is located in CA HLLM.
Must be able to travel to all schools in Complex Area Hana - Lahainaluna - Lanai - Molokai (HLLM) for grades Kindergarten to 12th
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board or any state.

The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom. With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree.
If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).
It is your responsibility to ensure the program you have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line you are hired in.
