Position Summary

The Human Resource Generalist leads and supports day‑to‑day Human Resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and policy enforcement. This role supports all Pure Star facilities located on Maui and the Big Island and requires regular inter‑island travel. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, multi‑shift, and seasonal environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Pure Star HR Hawaii Team to support and execute HR and talent strategies, including recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees, providing guidance on complex and sensitive HR matters such as accommodations, investigations, corrective action, and terminations.
  • Manage full‑cycle talent acquisition, with a strong focus on production, engineering, and driver roles.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to understand staffing needs, skills, and competencies.
  • Analyze compensation trends and assist with the development of competitive pay and incentive programs.
  • Support and develop learning and development initiatives to promote internal growth.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations.
  • Administer leave programs and partner closely with payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of HR trends, regulatory changes, and HR technology.
  • Maintain a strong presence across locations to monitor employee engagement and workplace culture.
  • Support a workforce with multiple shifts and seasonal staffing increases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Human Resources experience (preferred).
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now, including HR, Benefits, and Payroll modules (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with hiring, onboarding, and training.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management.
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing and complex environment.
  • Must be willing and able to travel regularly between Maui and the Big Island.
Physical Demands
  • Primarily office and production‑based work environment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a desk or workstation.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and office/production equipment.
  • Ability to maneuver throughout office and production areas.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Work Schedule
  • Full‑time hours.
  • On‑call availability after business hours as needed.
Work Environment
  • Office/desk‑based role with regular interaction in production environments.
