Cashier Team Member (Front End Service) - Part Time

Base pay range: $17.00/hr - $25.40/hr

This role provides support as a member of the Customer Service & E-Commerce team, including assisting customers during the check-out process, performing all cash register functions, bagging groceries, and working at the customer service desk. The position supports attractive customer service displays and aligns with the Whole Foods Market Customer Service vision. All roles require courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members, adherence to store SOPs, and willingness to perform duties across related team roles as needed.

The role supports WFM core values and safety regulations, including health and sanitation standards.

• Check out customer groceries efficiently and accurately.
• Uphold government regulations concerning sale of alcoholic beverages and taxation.
• Follow proper checkout, ATM, and credit procedures and cashier policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and stock in Front End areas, including the employee register area.
• Follow cash handling procedures and cashier variance policies.
• Assist with training of new Cashier and Cashier Assistant Team Members as needed.
• Assist supervisor in managing customer flow and reduce wait times.
• Participate in company programs as directed by leadership.
• Arrive on time, groomed and ready to work; fulfill scheduled shifts and attend trainings/meetings.
• Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs promptly, and use suggestive selling techniques.
• Maximize sales potential through proper merchandising, stocking, and rotation of products.
• Comply with procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working/shopping environment; ensure equipment is safe.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties and verify pricing accuracy.
• Report safety hazards and violations immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store or company leadership.

• Demonstrates patience in dealing with customers and Team Members.
• Proficiency with cashier codes and PLUs; strong basic math skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to convey information clearly to customers, Team Members, and vendors.
• Ability to meet customer service expectations in all interactions.
• Ability to follow directions, manage time effectively, and stay organized.

• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with urgency.
• Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.
• Strong attention to detail.
• No prior retail experience required.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
• Hand use: gripping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
• Work may involve bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals approved by FDA.
• Exposure to temperatures ranging from freezing to hot environments.
• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment and flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to use tools and equipment such as box cutters and electric pallet jacks; may require ladders.
