As an Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed Patrol in Kahului, HI, you will serve and safeguard the airport, its facilities, its travelers, and airport operations. You will interact with the public, provide outstanding customer service, and communicate clearly while upholding our values of teamwork, integrity, and putting people first. Position Type: Full Time - Morning

Pay Rate: $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.

Job Schedule: Mon 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM, Tue 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM, Sat 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM, Sun 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM

Pre-Employment Requirements
  • Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Law Enforcement Officer License
  • 22+ years of age
Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
  • No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968, and no convictions for truthfulness infractions under Giglio v. United States, 405 U.S. 105 (1972) and United States v. Henthorn, 931

    F. 2d 29 (9th Cir. 1991).
  • Graduate of one of the approved training programs:
    Certified State law enforcement recruit training, Certified County law enforcement recruit training, Federal law enforcement training, or programs approved by the Director.
Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Must be able to supervise contractors’ personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on performance, conduct or behavior of subordinate employees.
  • Strong moral character; high standards of truthfulness.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and with sound judgment under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to follow orders, take responsibility for one’s actions, and maintain professional conduct.
  • Alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, patrol for an entire shift, climb stairs, run, and perform self‑defense.
Other related attributes that would enhance hiring consideration
  • Shall have no record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders that may interfere with performance of duties.
Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and with problem‑solving skills.
  • Exercise sound judgment and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Demonstrate mature conduct, behavior, and attitude.

  • Courtesy in interpersonal relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
  • LEOs may be required to provide a court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA; contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs that attend a court proceeding.
