Service Technician III (Kona)
Overview
This position has a progression.
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Performs skilled tasks of average difficulty following specific policies/procedures/methods in responding to written/verbal instructions regarding the installation, inspection, testing, adjusting, and repair of all types/models of gas utilization appliances/equipment and systems for residential/commercial/industrial users.

Education/Certification/License:
- Preferably a high school graduate with technical schooling.
- Completed all required Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). OSHA Federal/State and NFPA courses or programs.
- Must maintain at least minimum passing scores per regulations, for all recurring Federal/State and NFPA courses or programs.
- Must possess a valid Class B, CDL license with Hazardous Material endorsement, with no restrictions on air brakes or transmission type, and valid Medical Examiner's Certificate per 49 CFR 391.41 through 391.49 and appropriate clearance certificate such as TWIC.
- Satisfactory completion of in-house Service Technician Training and Field Evaluation; must pass continuing refresher courses.
Experience:
- Approximately 18 months gas service work experience, not less then one year of which must have been in the repair and servicing of gas equipment/appliances/controls: these experience requirements may be reduced at management's discretion based on need and for the individual who demonstrates exceptional ability and skills to perform the duties of Service Technician III.
- Must have demonstrated ability to effectively perform the work requirements and to deal tactfully and courteously with customers.
- Must be a safe and competent driver, cognizant of all traffic laws and have a clean traffic abstract.
- Possesses working knowledge of departmental operating rules and procedures, pertinent codes (such as NFPA #58 and #59) regulations, standards and safety rules/regulations/practices in addition to standard practices and procedures for this trade.
- Proficient in the proper use of the tools, materials, and equipment of the trade and have a good safety record; ability to use computer.
Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation:
