This role provides instructional services to ensure company pilots are trained to deliver customer‑oriented, high‑quality air medical transport services in a safe and efficient manner. The pilot is expected to act as a proactive and integral team player, both in flight and during ground operations, utilizing communication and technical skills which will strengthen the company goal of being held in the highest regard within the HAA industry.

Qualifications & Skills- Three years of experience as a Part 135 Pilot in Command in the Air Medical industry.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Able to take initiative to create, implement and improve procedures and policies.
- Travel by personal or company vehicle throughout LFN’s service area, a valid driver’s license, automobile in good repair and proof of auto insurance is required.
- Current Certified Flight Instructor Certification (CFII) preferred.
- Airline Transport Pilot Certification (ATP) preferred.
- 3000 hours of rotor wing experience as Pilot in Command.
- 2000 hours of turbine engine time.
- 100 hours of unaided night‑time experience.
- 100 Night Vision Goggle (NVG) operations.
- Minimum 100 hours Simulated / Actual instrument time required.
- 3000 hours of fixed wing experience as Pilot in Command.
- 2000 hours of turbine engine time.
- 250 hours of unaided night‑time experience.
- Minimum 300 hours Simulated / Actual instrument time required.
- Performs as Check Pilot, Flight Instructor, and Ground Instructor.
- Evaluates operational compliance including all aspects of safety, flight operations, maintenance operations, and other procedures and policies as described in the General Operations Manual.
- Will correct out‑of‑compliance issues immediately. When unable to make immediate corrections the Instructor Pilot/Check Pilot will coordinate with the regional Assistant Chief Pilot to ensure the problem is corrected.
- Has authority to shut down base operations when appropriate for out of compliance or for safety issues.
- Reports all out‑of‑compliance issues to the Chief Pilot, Assistant Chief Pilot(s).
- Ensures that standardized training and checking procedures provided by the certificate are adhered to.
- Assists the Training Manager in all pilot record keeping requirements in accordance with applicable FARs and policies.
- Continues in educational betterment, e.g., computer training, ground and flight training.
- Submits required reports in a timely manner.
- Operates advanced aviation training devices (AATDs) including movement of the device.
- Operates full motion simulators.
- Assists in the development and implementation of flight and ground training schedules.
- Is knowledgeable of FARs and Life Flight Network’s General Operations Manual and other required manuals.
- Assists the Chief Pilot and Assistant Chief Pilot(s) in the development of the aircraft checklist and Life Flight Network’s Pilot Training Programs.
- Assists the Chief pilot, Assistant Chief Pilots and Chief Safety Officer in investigating aviation mishaps and performing root cause analyses.
- Will develop and conduct (as appropriate):
- Basic indoctrination training
- Initial and recurrent ground training
- Initial and recurrent flight training
- Instrument training (ground and flight)
- Night vision goggle (NVG) training (ground and flight)
- Ensures a pilot’s eligibility for the position prior to beginning any training and prior to each evaluation by reviewing all pertinent data on the pilot certificate (i.e. category and class, pilot ratings, English proficient, limitations - if any, and signature) and medical certificate (class, date, limitations, and signatures).
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot or Aviation Training Manager.
