PART-TIME ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT (CONTRACTED)

Employment Status:
Contracted through Edustaff (if applicable)

Work Year: 12-Month, Part-Time, 20 hours, Flexible Hours

Rate: $20.00-$25.00 Depending on Experience

Director of Finance & Human Resources

We partner with Edustaff, an educational staffing agency for all our custodian staff. Parchment School District manages the onboarding process and directs your day to day assignments.

Position Summary:

The Part-Time Accounting Assistant provides support to the Director of Finance with daily accounting functions, including grant accounting, bank reconciliations, and general financial operations. This position assists in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and supporting fiscal operations within a public-school environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Entering financial data into accounting software, updating records and maintaining organized financial files.
  • Assist with grant accounting, including tracking expenditures and maintaining required documentation, preparing claims for grant draws.
  • Perform and assist with monthly bank and account reconciliations
  • Assist in the budget preparation and annual audit
  • Support accounts payable and receivable functions as needed
  • Assist the Director of Finance with financial reporting, audits, and special projects
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records
  • Provide general accounting and administrative support to the finance department

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • Public school and/or governmental accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with grant accounting preferred
  • Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet applications
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception and peripheral vision.
