Base pay range$14.00/hr – $15.00/hr
Classification: Full-time, Seasonal, Hourly/Non-Exempt
Supervisor: Camp Director
Schedule: ~7:40am–5:30pm, Monday–Friday, June 1 – August 17 (week of July 4 off)
Compensation: $14.25/hr ($15/hr for returning staff)

Lead, Organize, and Inspire Campers This Summer!Join the Kalamazoo Nature Center (KNC) as the Camp Coordinator and be a key leader in creating safe, fun, and dynamic experiences for children of all ages. You’ll oversee group activities, special events, bus supervision, and daily operations while guiding and mentoring camp staff.
AboutThe Role
As the Camp Coordinator, you will plan and supervise camp-wide activities, manage schedules and groups, assist with meals and supplies, and support camp staff in delivering high-quality programming. You’ll serve as a unit head, providing leadership, mentorship, and a positive role model for both campers and staff.
What You’ll Do- Oversee check‑in, registration, and health screenings.
- Provide bus supervision and coordination.
- Plan, organize, and supervise camp‑wide activities and special events.
- Create and maintain schedules and group assignments with camp leadership.
- Order and prepare food for snacks and lunches as needed.
- Assist with supplies and activities for campers and staff.
- Supervise and mentor camp educators, supporting staff development.
- Assist with office duties and other administrative tasks.
- Provide programming for campers as needed.
- Step in to support other roles if staff are unavailable.
- Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
- Must be 21 years or older by the first week of camp.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Commitment to KNC’s mission and environmental stewardship.
- Ability to work full‑time for the camp season and follow all safety procedures.
- Lifeguard certification preferred.
KNC is a fun, dynamic, and collaborative environment where you’ll build leadership, teaching, and organizational skills while spending your days outdoors. You’ll help campers explore, play, and connect with nature and have a direct hand in creating memorable summer experiences.
Physical & Environmental Conditions- Nature‑based camp means walking several miles per day on hilly terrain and rustic trails.
- The work is outdoors in hot, humid Michigan weather.
- Work environment may be loud with active groups of children.
