Regional Call Center Operator – PRN 3am Start
Located at BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital. The role supports Bronson Communication Services, which receives an average of 39,000 calls per month across several Bronson hospitals.
Responsibilities
- Process incoming calls for Bronson Methodist Hospital, Bronson Battle Creek Hospital and other Bronson entities.
- Page in‑hospital personnel, physicians, and orders for Kalamazoo and Battle Creek.
- Execute code procedures for Kalamazoo and Battle Creek.
- Process changes to Smart Web on‑call calendars for the Bronson system.
- Handle after‑hours calls for all Bronson practices system wide.
- Provide general information and transfer calls to appropriate departments.
- Respond to hospital, county, state, and area‑wide communications through phone, text paging, overhead paging, and computer systems.
- Make changes to computerized on‑call schedules for physicians and departments system wide.
- Activate emergency, fire, weather, and disaster plans for Kalamazoo and Battle Creek.
- Monitor fire alarm and medical gas system for Kalamazoo.
- Respond to all emergency situations (Code Blue, Yellow, Pink, etc.) for Kalamazoo and Battle Creek.
- Receive and log answering service phone calls while ensuring doctors were properly paged for the Bronson system.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–2 years related experience and/or training preferred.
- Previous computer/call center experience preferred.
- Basic medical terminology knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills in a high‑volume department, working with both the public and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to prioritize and work efficiently in emergency or complicated situations where speed and accuracy matter and can assure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Positive customer service orientation; fluent in English with good grammar.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills; able to manage high levels of mental/visual fatigue and sustained hand/eye coordination.
- Physical demands include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects.
