About the Opportunity

Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a full-time Training & Development Coordinator reporting to the Associate Vice President of Collaboration, Compliance & Analytics/ Chief of Staff. This position coordinates, designs and delivers innovative learning experiences, develops leadership and employee development initiatives and helps cultivate a culture of continuous learning engagement and excellence across the institution.

Essential Job Functions
  • Collaborates with all areas of the college to assess training needs and develops comprehensive training opportunities.
  • Develops and coordinates a training calendar.
  • Utilizes modern instructional design methods to develop training to meet the needs of all learning styles.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state training requirements.
  • Collaborates with college leadership to identify, recommend, develop and facilitate individualized training and development plans for employees.
  • Develops, organizes and facilitates large-scale professional development opportunities, such as college-wide summits and departmental and leadership retreats.
  • Incorporates institutional initiatives by prioritizing diversity and inclusion goals into training and development activities.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of training and implements improvements.
  • Recommends best practices, technology, resources, processes and continuous improvement solutions.
  • Remains current of developments in training and instructional methodologies.
  • Actively participates in committees and teams as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of staff development techniques and training practices.
  • Knowledge of training goals, objectives and requirements.
  • Skill in utilizing effective assessments.
  • Skill in developing and facilitating training programs.
  • Skill in developing and delivering effective oral and written presentations..

  • Skill in project management.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other personnel and the public.
Minimum Qualifications

A combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. An example of this would be a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and two years of related experience in higher education, including involvement with institutional and program accreditation.
