We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for our Kalamazoo, MI office.
Job SummaryThe Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the electrical engineering design and layout of systems for various projects.
Responsibilities- Perform electrical engineering design and layout of systems for commercial, industrial, correctional, and parks projects.
- Design and model electrical systems in 3D, including power distribution systems, lighting systems, fire alarm, access control, and security.
- Prepare 2‑dimensional construction details, including power distribution One‑Line Diagrams, wiring diagrams, and details.
- Model lighting systems in photometric software to design general and emergency lighting for commercial buildings.
- Produce electrical engineering construction drawings using Auto Desk Revit.
- Perform field measurements and documentation by attending site visits; photograph existing conditions and take legible field notes.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, specifications, and probable construction cost estimates.
- Provide support for other departments as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
- Professional Engineering licensure or Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.
- 5+ years of experience required.
- Solid computer‑aided drafting skills required.
- AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other 3D modeling software preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical system design.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
- Ability to keep commitments and meet deadlines.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Typical office environment with some work performed on project sites. May be exposed to extreme temperatures and may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety boots/shoes, hard hat, and safety vest.
