Senior Process Engineer
Position
Purpose:
We are seeking a Water and Wastewater Process Engineer with extensive experience in planning, design, permitting, and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Candidates must be able to thrive in a team environment overseeing a variety of municipal process projects. This is an opportunity to work with a talented group dedicated to serving communities and builds on Wightman’s strategic commitment to growth and the development of client focused teams.
Essential Functions:
- Meeting with clients to understand challenges and needs
- Preparation of feasibility studies and engineering reports and process design calculations.
- Coordination with equipment representatives and manufacturers, water and wastewater system layout.
- Coordination of design efforts with project team members.
E.g.: specification writing, construction permitting, preparation of bidding documents, review of shop drawings and other construction submittals, and coordination of construction administration responsibilities.
- Advanced experience consulting or working with local, regional, and state government.
- Strong interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Passionate about organizing and leading others; drives results by planning, prioritizing, and meeting tight deadlines required.
- Ability to work independently with a self-motivated attitude; capable of overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
- As part of the process team, supervises direct reports, project engineers, and designers
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
- PE Licensure in Michigan and/or Indiana (or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire)
- 10+ years of water and wastewater process experience
Experience:
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
- Water or Wastewater operational experience is desired
- Construction observation experience is desired
- Project management experience is desired
- Position based in Kalamazoo
- 10-15% local travel
