Job Summary
Full‑time day shift Foundry Engineer position located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The role determines efficient tooling design and configuration to profitably produce castings within customer specifications while supporting manufacturing and quality objectives.
Responsibilities- Work with production control and other departments to ensure trouble‑free and timely start‑up of new jobs and engineering changes.
- Prepare documentation of new work and set dates for completion of tooling, sampling, pilot runs, layouts, etc.
- Track, record and report progress.
- Initiate communication with customers and tooling vendors, acting as liaison on new job start‑up, casting design and cost‑reduction proposals.
- Suggest design changes to enhance value on existing and new designs.
- Collaborate with production and quality control to resolve scrap issues on existing programs.
- Communicate with Sales Department on product development, tooling designs and new job status.
- Communicate required changes to appropriate plant personnel.
- Participate in the Cost Estimate Requisition s (CER's) process by developing estimates of tooling design, yield, and cost.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology or equivalent.
- Experience modelling using Solid Works or Creo.
- Simulation experience, MAGMASOFT preferred.
- Experience in root cause defect analysis and resolution.
- Strong tooling background in plastics or metal stamping.
- 2+ years of experience preferred.
- Supervise highly diversified journey work and formulate new approaches.
- Formulate and apply technical practices.
- General office working conditions, frequent shop exposure, occasional travel.
- Exhibit superior safety practices every day evidenced by outstanding housekeeping.
- Demonstrate courtesy and dignity toward associates and customers.
- Exceed customer quality and service expectations through attention to detail.
- Exercise care to protect the environment by fostering responsible operating procedures.
- Salary range $85,000 to $95,000 DOE.
- Relocation assistance $3,000 to $5,000.
