Job SummaryThe Inpatient Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating and conducting medically prescribed physical therapy programs to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability for hospitalized patients. The therapist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, compassionate care for patients recovering from a variety of conditions, including orthopedic issues, neurological disorders, and cardiovascular events.
Key Responsibilities- Perform initial and ongoing comprehensive assessments of patients' conditions, including strength, mobility, balance, endurance, and range of motion.
- Develop, implement, and revise personalized, goal-oriented treatment plans based on patient needs and objective findings.
- Administer therapeutic interventions using standard physical therapy techniques and modalities.
- Educate and counsel patients and their families on treatment plans, the recovery process, and safe use of adaptive equipment.
- Begin discharge planning at the initial evaluation to ensure a smooth and safe transition to home or another care setting.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and case managers to optimize patient outcomes.
- Oversee the activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in electronic health records.
- Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and performance improvement projects.
- Graduate of an Accredited PT program
- Current Physical Therapist licensure in the state of Michigan.
- Current BLS certification.
- Experience in an inpatient hospital setting is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with inpatient documentation and billing requirements.
