Villa At Borgess Place is seeking a Medical Records Coordinator to join their team! Under the direction of the Medical Records Director and/or Administrator, the Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for medical records through preparation, compilation, analysis, maintenance and filing. Maintains a well-organized system of closed and open medical records so that records are available to interdisciplinary personnel as need for resident care and other authorized activities.

Medical Records Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assemble admissions records and files, including electronically.
  • Maintain and adhere to records retention policies, destroying files when appropriate.
  • Retrieve records for use by administrative or interdisciplinary personnel for resident care, quality improvement, incident tracking and investigation and other authorized purposes.
  • Process and monitor completion of physician telephone orders to authorize administration of medication, treatments, therapies, and other services.
  • Comply with federal and state laws concerning the release of information from medical records.
  • Print and/or copy information as requested from authorized persons.
  • File authorization for release of information in medical record.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information in the medical record.
  • Audit charts for completeness.
  • All other duties, as assigned.
Medical Records Coordinator

Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of health information, coding, and indexing is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize and work under pressure.
Medical Records Coordinator

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least one year of experience in a relevant role preferred.
  • Previous EMR software experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
