Position Summary
The Hospital Human Resources Director (HRD) is responsible for the strategic workforce plan and the day-to-day HR operations within a hospital. He/she focuses on acquiring, developing, and shaping a high-performing workforce to achieve the goal of becoming the best place to work in health care. The HRD works with hospital leadership to manage people metrics with the expected outcomes of minimal turnover, controlled SWB expense, high employee engagement, high-quality patient care, and excellent experiences for patients, visitors, physicians, and employees.
Candidate Experience, Attributes and Education Requirements
- Experience of at least 5 to 7 years in a top HR leadership position.
- Hospital experience required.
- Demonstrated track record of driving high organizational performance and high employee engagement.

- Master’s degree or SPHR preferred.

Functional Expectations & Requirements
- Develop and execute HR strategies, programs, and initiatives aligned with hospital business plans.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on delivering high-quality patient care and excellent patient experience.
- Partner with the Hospital A-Team on problem-solving, decision support, and leadership development.
- Deliver core HR services: recruiting, employee relations, health/safety, learning/development, and HR regulatory compliance.
- Improve efficiency of HR operations and oversee salary/wages/benefits; monitor HR operations metrics.
- Design and implement 1- to 7-year workforce plans based on local and national trends.
Day-to-Day Operations
- Deliver sound selection, onboarding, and orientation to reduce first-year turnover.
- Enhance employee engagement through HR programs and action plans.
- Establish recognition programs and timely internal communications.
- Oversee pay and labor staffing and seek productivity improvements.
- Meet HR KPIs and metrics.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with HR regulations, employment law, and Joint Commission HR standards.
- Respond to EEO complaints and prepare statements; manage FTP processes.
- Oversee employee health and occupational safety with input from related teams to ensure a safe workplace.
- Coordinate planning, response, and reporting to Joint Commission, OSHA, CDC, and other agencies as required.
Organizational Leadership – Strategic Areas
- Participate in Tenet-wide leadership development, talent mapping, succession planning, and leadership academies.
- Lead HR enterprise shared services and provide leadership education and development, including diversity and inclusion and labor relations.
- Develop organizational talent; recruit and retain, and implement integrated succession plans.
