About the Company

Our client is a respected leader in infrastructure construction, known for delivering complex, mission-critical projects across Michigan. With a strong reputation for technical excellence, collaborative project delivery, and long-term client relationships, the firm continues to expand its presence in the Southwest Michigan and Southeast Michigan markets.

As the company grows its infrastructure portfolio, it seeks a high-caliber Project Manager who can serve as a trusted leader—someone the organization can rely on to manage large-scale work and represent the firm with professionalism and confidence.

About the Position

The Project Manager will lead a major $49 million water treatment plant project in Kalamazoo, serving onsite through April 2028. This is a critical, high-visibility position that requires strong leadership, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build deep, lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders over a multi-year project.

Beyond this assignment, the Project Manager will eventually oversee additional work throughout Southwest Michigan and eastward to the Lansing region. This role provides a pathway to become a go-to leader for the company’s infrastructure work in Southeast Michigan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead onsite project personnel including the Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, and Safety staff—providing daily direction, coaching, and support without micromanaging.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with owners, architects/engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams—maintaining alignment and communication across a multi-year engagement.
  • Manage the full project schedule using Microsoft Project, including daily updates, milestone creation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Run weekly onsite Owner–Architect–Contractor (OAC) meetings, including:
    • Preparing agendas, supporting documents, and meeting minutes.
    • Communicating schedule updates, milestones, and progress.
    • Demonstrating full command of the project, its documents, and stakeholder needs.
  • Partner closely with the Superintendent to reconcile daily look-ahead plans with the master schedule—identifying issues, solving conflicts, and closing gaps proactively.
  • Oversee all cost management responsibilities, including budgets, PCOs, SCOs, and OCOs.
  • Utilize Autodesk Build and Autodesk Cost (experience is a significant plus).
  • Resolve internal and external disputes collaboratively and professionally.
  • Serve as a dependable leader capable of managing complex infrastructure work with minimal oversight.
Requirements
  • Experience managing large-scale infrastructure or water/wastewater treatment projects.
  • Proven ability to lead onsite teams (Superintendent, APM, Safety) with strong communication and coaching skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project for full project scheduling, daily updates, and milestone management.
  • Strong meeting management and stakeholder communication skills; experience running OAC meetings preferred.
  • Deep understanding of cost control, forecasting, PCO/SCO/OCO management, and budget oversight.
  • Experience with Autodesk Build and Autodesk Cost is highly preferred.
  • Ability to build long‑term, professional relationships across all project partners.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and composure when navigating challenges or disputes.
  • Local candidates or individuals living within roughly 60 minutes of Kalamazoo strongly preferred.
Benefits
  • Salary Range: $175,000 – $185,000
  • Annual performance‑based bonus
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits
  • Long‑term career path with opportunities to become a key leader for the company’s infrastructure operations in Southeast Michigan

Professional development support and strong internal leadership culture
