Goodwill SWMI is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Our 250 dedicated team members help achieve our mission of improving the community by providing employment, education, training, and support services tailored to individual needs across a six-county territory. At Goodwill SWMI, the work we do is effective in the lives of the individuals we serve and, in turn, in the communities in which we live.
Goodwill SWMI manages eleven retail stores (with attached, attended donation centers and one stand-alone donation center), Contract Manufacturing Operations as well as Custodial & Janitorial business units. These business operations provide stability to our organization that is not always enjoyed by nonprofit organizations solely funded by outside sources.

The primary responsibility of the Safety/ Loss Prevention manager is to monitor store and agency activities and operations to reduce employee and shopper theft and lead safety committees or working groups, facilitating employee engagement in safety initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInclude, but are not limited to:
- Manage the overall security of Goodwill SWMI in accordance with all federal, state, and local requirements, to assure that a successful Security program is maintained at all times.
- Manage all aspects of Goodwill SWMI’s loss prevention practice
- Assist in loss prevention activities such as: inspections, investigations, surveillance, interviews, salting audits, training, etc.
- Control all aspects of building access, keys, key fobs, security and fire alarms, , etc.
- Inspect Goodwill SWMI facilities on a regular basis to ensure that the grounds, facility and equipment are maintained in accordance with established security and safety procedures
- Responsible for creating annual safety training offering
- Collaborate with department heads to identify needs to maintain safety working environment
- Serve as the central point of contact for local law enforcement and evaluate new security tools that might benefit Goodwill SWMI. Be the local security expert.
- Manage the Workers on Wheels (WOW) Program
- Demonstrate ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to interface with all levels of the organization
- Ability to make sound decisions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
- Demonstrate a strong customer service orientation in all interactions
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated experience with safety practices and loss prevention
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEAn associate degree in law enforcement, criminal Justice and/ or equivalent experience is required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires regular area travel to outlying locations, and may require crawling, lifting, twisting, reaching, bending, regular sitting, and keyboarding.
