Housing Resources, Inc. (HRI) is seeking an experienced and strategic Development Director to lead the organization's fundraising, donor engagement, grant development, special events and community relations efforts. The Development Director is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that supports HRI's mission, strengthens relationships with donors and community partners, and advances the organization's financial sustainability and growth.

The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder with strong communication skills, grant-writing experience, and a passion for creating housing stability and opportunities for individuals and families in our community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising and development plan to achieve organizational revenue goals.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundation partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Research, write, and manage grant applications, reports, and funding proposals.
  • Identify new funding opportunities and develop strategies to diversify revenue sources.
  • Plan and execute donor cultivation activities, fundraising campaigns, special events, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and oversee donor database management.
  • Prepare fundraising reports, metrics, and analyses for leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop fundraising priorities aligned with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Create and manage development-related communications, including annual appeals, impact reports, newsletters, and donor acknowledgements.
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, events, networking opportunities, and donor engagements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with funders, elected officials, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Assist with marketing, public relations, and brand awareness activities that support development efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, donor restrictions, and organizational policies.
  • Supervise development-related staff, interns, volunteers, or consultants as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in fundraising, development, grant writing, donor relations, marketing, or nonprofit leadership.
Preferred
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible nonprofit development experience.
  • Experience managing fundraising campaigns, major gifts, corporate sponsor ships, and foundation grants.
  • Experience working with donor management software and CRM databases.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and resource development.
  • Strong grant-writing, editing, and proposal development skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with donors, community leaders, and funding partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience planning events, campaigns, and donor stewardship activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and donor database systems.
  • Ability to analyze fundraising data and prepare reports for leadership and board members.
  • Commitment to HRI's mission and values.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel locally for meetings, events, and donor visits.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends for fundraising and community events.
