American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical night shift position requiring MI licensure and 2 years of Med/Surg or MS/Tele experience.

• Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• 36 hours/week with option to pick up additional PRN hours
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to similar medical surgical departments as needed, with travelers prioritized for floating
• Night shift ratios of 1:5-6, with no LPNs on nights
• Common patient diagnoses include pneumonia, heart failure, GI bleed, DKA, altered mental status, and sepsis
• Uses Epic charting system

• Active Michigan RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• At least 1 year of Medical Surgical experience required
• MS/Tele experience required
• Epic experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration, with exemption requests submitted within 48 hours of signing

• Care for patients with a range of medical-surgical diagnoses including pneumonia, heart failure, GI bleed, DKA, altered mental status, and sepsis
• Charge nurse is typically free from patient assignments when unit is fully staffed with 5 RNs, but may take patients when short-staffed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No holiday time off requests accepted, though scheduling may be discussed with the manager
• RTO limited to no more than 10 days
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• Previous internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
