Overview
Job Title: Tax Advisor & Preparer
Location: Kamloops, BC – Hybrid (daily travel to members’ sites, also on‑site at the office)
Employment Type: Full‑time, Permanent
Position Status: Existing Vacancy
This is a travel‑based role requiring daily in‑person visits with members at their place of business
. The candidate must be willing to drive daily to both urban and remote locations, possess a valid driver’s licence, vehicle registration, and a reliable vehicle, and be able to travel up to 5 hours to visit members.
The Tax Advisor & Preparer works directly with members to understand their financial situations and deliver tailored tax strategies that minimise taxes in the short and long term. In addition to tax preparation and planning, the role introduces members to the full range of FBC services, including bookkeeping, payroll, legal assistance and access to financial and estate planning professionals. Support may also include estate planning, retirement planning and cash‑flow management as member needs arise.
The successful candidate will be client‑focused, knowledgeable in tax and accounting practices, and motivated to build lasting member relationships while providing trusted financial guidance. This position reports to the FBC Kelowna location and may require onsite work as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Provide accurate tax and accounting advice to FBC members.
- Obtain member information to file and complete member T1 and T2 tax returns.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with members, encouraging referrals and long‑term engagement.
- Identify member needs and connect them with other specialists within the company and network.
- Maintain accurate records of all member interactions and services provided.
- Other duties as required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with a tax preparation or accounting firm.
- Proficiency in tax preparation and accounting software (Taxprep, Xero preferred).
- Experience preparing tax returns for farms and small businesses.
- Experience preparing both individual and corporate tax returns.

- Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to analyse unique scenarios and provide customised recommendations.
Annual salary range: $55,000–$100,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package and variable bonuses based on individual and company performance metrics.
