Reporting to Copcan’s General Managers and Norland’s Project Sponsor, the Senior Project Manager for the Kicking Horse River Bridge Project will have overall responsibility for the high quality and delivery of the project, through the planning, oversight, and execution of the project from its current state to completion.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the project according to schedule, specifications, and budget.
  • Ensure that best practice, company, and OH&S safety standards are implemented and embedded at jobsites.
  • Proactively manage cost, change, and risk to avoid delays or reputational damage
  • Lead, schedule, and direct project management, quality management, and surveying staff
  • Ensure all reporting staff have the required training and qualifications to execute their role
  • Mentor project management staff to develop their leadership & technical skills
  • Work with project teams to plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules
  • Work with the project team to develop and implement quality control programs, and conduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process, ensuring that the work environment is of an acceptable standard
  • Develop and maintain relationships with reliable subcontractors and vendors
  • Review the relevant contracts for the project and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Lead claims management activities to mitigate risk and protect project outcomes.
  • Respond efficiently and effectively to work delays, emergencies, and other project disruptions
  • Implement and oversee company training for field personnel, including superintendent and foreman training and safety & equipment inspection protocols
  • Promote the company image through exercising sound and ethical business practices as they relate to customers, suppliers, employees and the public
Qualifications & Skills
  • Preferably 10 years of experience in a Civil Construction managerial role
  • Professional Engineer designation (preferred)
  • Strong leadership capability as evidenced by demonstrable success in team / collaborative work environments
  • Demonstrated safety leadership
  • Desire to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the demands of unpredictable and time-sensitive activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to mentor staff and lead through influence
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Goal oriented, with the ability to take initiative and negotiate win-win outcomes
  • Team player with a high work ethic
  • Knowledgeable of Ministry of Transportation and MMCD contracts and specifications
Compensation

The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical starting salary range of $130,000 to $160,000 per annum. Variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
