Join SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 58 in Merritt as a Relief Education Assistant to support students with exceptional needs. This integral position focuses on enhancing educational accessibility and fostering independence.
Your role includes working closely with students with various learning disabilities and exceptionalities. You will manage Individual Education Plans (IEPs), implement behavioural strategies, and assist with personal care while collaborating with teachers and support staff. The position runs for 5.5 hours on school days from September 2, 2025, to June 26, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support and guide students with diverse learning needs
• Implement educational and behavioural support programs
• Collaborate with the educational team for student success
• Manage adaptive technology and instructional tools
• Provide personal and health care assistance as needed
Requirements:
• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
• Enrollment or completion of Education Assistant Certificate
• Willingness to maintain First Aid Certification
• Ability to stay regulated in challenging environments
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License is essential
