Position: Temporary Advocate for Indigenous Students
Location: Merritt

Join School District No. 58 as a Temporary Advocate for Indigenous Students in Merritt, B.C. Engage with students to enhance their educational and cultural experiences over the school year.

In this role, you will provide essential support to Aboriginal students and collaborate with school staff to foster a more inclusive environment. Your duties include developing student schedules, promoting cultural pride, and assisting in the self-identification of Aboriginal ancestry. This position is a chance to guide students academically, socially, and culturally while engaging families in the educational process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate student activities supporting Aboriginal engagement

• Develop and implement schedules for Aboriginal students

• Support educational programs and cultural awareness initiatives

• Track and monitor student progress and achievements

• Provide resources connecting schools to community cultures

Requirements:

• High school diploma plus 6 months human service coursework

• Recent experience with Aboriginal students and families

• Cultural sensitivity to First Nations communities

• Strong initiative in supporting educational goals

• Proficient in organizing record-keeping systems
