The Tŝilhqot’in National Government is based in Williams Lake, British Columbia serving six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tl'etinqox, Tl'esqox, Tŝideldel, Xeni Gwet'in, and Yuneŝit'in. The Tŝilhqot’in National Government’s mission is to support and empower Tŝilhqot’in peoples to exercise their rights to self-determination within their traditional territories in ways which reflect Tŝilhqot’in philosophy, values, experience and culture.
Senior ECE Coordinator provides strategic oversight, program coordination, and quality assurance for ECE and language immersion initiatives across Tŝilhqot’in communities. This role involves supervising educators, coordinating curriculum and daily operations, building strong relationships with families, and ensuring programs support children’s developmental, social, and emotional needs.
Senior ECE Coordinator also contributes to staff professional development, program planning, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead planning and implementation of ECE and language immersion programming
Supervise and mentor staff as needed
Coordinate training (ECE certification, language immersion, PD sessions)
Liaise with community leadership, daycares, and partners
Ensure integration of Tŝilhqot’in language, culture, and land-based learning
Oversee reporting, evaluation, and grant compliance
Annual ECE & Language Program Plan
Training schedule and materials (ECE + language immersion)
Quarterly progress reports (activities, participation, outcomes)
Community engagement records (meetings, visits)
Final grant report with outcomes and recommendations
Requirements
Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Valid ECE certification
Several years of progressive experience in childcare or early learning environments
Leadership and supervisory experience
Strong knowledge of child development, licensing regulations, and curriculum planning
Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills
Working Conditions
Travel may be required
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware
Overtime as required
Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be required
