District Resource Room Teacher Position

Join School District #73 as a District Resource Room Teacher for a term from September 1, 2026, to June 30, 2026. Focus on personalized education for students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.

This role requires a BC Teaching Certificate and involves developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs. You will provide functional academic instruction and life skills training while fostering an inclusive, safe learning environment. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends may be necessary to align with student and community needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

• Provide functional academic instruction in literacy and numeracy

• Teach life skills, including hygiene and time management

• Support executive functioning through structured routines

• Coordinate community-based learning opportunities

Requirements:

• Valid BC Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification

• Specialized training in intellectual disabilities education

• Experience with IEPs and functional curricula

• Understanding of Universal Design for Learning principles

• Strong organizational and communication skills
