TITLE
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ELEMENTARY INSTRUCTION AND ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

COMPENSATION
MIN $106,492 - MAX $179,207 annualized salary

PRIMARY FUNCTION
The primary function of the Associate Director of Elementary Instruction and Academic Programs is to support the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of the elementary instructional programs for the school division. This position supervises the instructional coordinators and coaches and supports the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the development of curriculum and assessments and designing and leading professional development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Postgraduate professional certificate with an endorsement in school administration and completion of those courses at the graduate level that are pertinent to the assignment.

Five years' experience in public school administration preferred.

Three years' experience as a principal preferred.

Have demonstrated, in a public school system, professional knowledge necessary for working effectively with school personnel and members of the community.

Considerable knowledge of current changes and developments in instruction, technology and professional development.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE,

Knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design and development of curriculum.

Strong computer (Microsoft Office) and presentation skills.

Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written; research, develop, present, and promote projects; work independently; prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness.

Ability to manage budget and personnel.

Ability to implement policy and procedures.

Ability to interpret data.

Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrate use of appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

Considerable knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in the field of curriculum and instruction.

Considerable knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization, and administration.

Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvements.

Ability to provide leadership and to supervise the planning, development, and establishment of new, modified and/or improved programs.

Ability to mentor and train new teachers, ability to hold high standards while also offering support and maintaining positive relationships.

REPORTS TO
Director of Instruction and Curriculum

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide leadership developing and monitoring the effectiveness of elementary curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Provide support for School Improvement Plans at the elementary level.

Provide leadership in evaluating the effectiveness of elementary academic programs.

Assist in the planning and implementation of division elementary assessment programs.

Provide leadership in the implementation of remediation programs and Response to Intervention (RtI).

Oversee elementary magnet programs.

Manage and provide appropriate oversight of budgets for gifted, remediation, elementary reading, and the Title I program.

Oversee the Title I program.

Oversee the gifted program.

Work with staff to develop and implement the division's gifted plan.

Serve as representative at Gifted Education Advisory Committee meetings.

Work collaboratively with instructional staff to design and implement a quality professional development program for staff.

Analyze academic achievement data to understand the impact, develop goals and solutions grounded in data, and disaggregate data to understand root causes and lead improvements in outcomes for all students.

Monitor key metrics to determine the success of each academic area; promote data‑driven decision making across the division.

Use insights from student performance data across school division to inform continuous improvement of curriculum, instruction and assessments, incorporating input from school leaders, teachers and community members.

Lead coaches and oversee Instructional Coordinators to ensure each provides exceptional leadership, service and support to school leaders and teachers.

Plan and organize regular meetings as needed with principals and assistant principals to coordinate a unified implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Respond to public inquiries regarding curriculum and instruction.

Partner with members in other departments to ensure individual school support meeting the needs of all students.

Model non‑discriminatory behavior and follow established safe work practices.

Follow established YCSD policies and procedures at all times.

Perform other duties as assigned.
