Casual Family Literacy Facilitator

Make a difference in your community as a Family Literacy Facilitator with YMCA BC. Lead engaging early literacy sessions for young children and caregivers in a supportive, inclusive environment.

As a Community Facilitator, you'll organize and deliver fun, interactive programming that fosters language development and encourages caregiver engagement with their children aged 0-5. This casual role involves collaboration with community resources and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver interactive literacy sessions focused on songs and stories

• Build strong relationships with families and community partners

• Prepare fun, nutritional snacks for program participants

• Keep accurate records of attendance and session plans

• Stay current with best practices in child development

Requirements:

• Background experience working with young children and families

• Completion of relevant parent-child engagement training preferred

• Excellent facilitation and communication skills

• Capability to promote cultural respect and inclusion

• First Aid/CPR-C and Food Safe Certificates required
