Civic Operations GIS Technologist

Position: Civic Operations GIS Technologist (Permanent, Full-Time) – 1953
Position Overview  The City of Kamloops is seeking an individual with excellent attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills to join our maintenance management and GIS team as a permanent, full-time Civic Operations GIS Technologist. The Civic Operations GIS Technologist supports the development, maintenance, and analysis of geographic information systems to assist in planning, operations, and decision-making across Civic Operations. The role is responsible for producing accurate spatial data, maps, and reports;

maintaining GIS databases; and providing technical support to internal stakeholders to ensure data integrity and effective use of GIS tools.
Qualifications   Completion of secondary school or its equivalent.
Completion of a two-year diploma in GIS.
Minimum two years’ previous experience in municipal GIS experience (ArcGIS).
Eligible for certification as a Technologist or a Technician with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia.
Compensation and Benefits   Hourly Rate:  $47.942 (2025)
Comprehensive benefits package is included. This is a CUPE local 900 position.
Hours of Work   Hours & Days of Work:  Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (year-round)
Hours per Week:  35
