Purpose of Position

The Utilities Operator D-2 is a senior certified operator responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant operation, maintenance, inspection and repair of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, Dam and associated utility systems.

Responsibilities
  • Operates Wastewater Collection (WWCS) System to ensure it is operating effectively for the TteS Reserve (45%)
  • Completes in-house safety procedures and ensures programs are maintained for safe work practices and occupational health and safety guidelines are adhered to for staff and visitors.
  • Records and performs sampling with current standard methods within Wastewater collection system.
  • Monitors and analyses data from operations and SCADA for lift station sites within WWCS.
  • Collects and record operational data and lab results, forwards to supervisor.
  • Completes safety procedures for construction, inspection and testing of sewers, inspection of manholes and repairs to underground mainline.
  • Clears stoppages, clearing sewers, controlling roots, grease, odors and corrosion in collection system.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of types of motors, supervisory controls, pumps & valves, and other equipment.
  • Examines the condition of a sewer system, follows sewer maintenance program, and safely uses various methods to replace or repair damaged sewers.
  • Drafts reports on computers as records of maintenance and logbook entries of daily duties are required.
  • Completes Service Area annual reporting as per TteS Asset Management Policy/Bylaw.
  • Works closely with specialty companies contracted to perform work with WWC operator on collection system from time to time.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with TteS policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of TteS.
  • Coordinates and performs advanced troubleshooting of wastewater collection infrastructure.
  • Leads preventative maintenance activities on lift stations, pumps and collection systems.
  • Performs inflow and infiltration investigations.
  • Assists with CCTV inspection and sewer condition assessments.
  • Coordinates emergency response for sewer backups and sanitary sewer overflows.
  • Assists with commissioning of new wastewater infrastructure.
  • Provides technical guidance to Utilities Operator D-1 staff during field operations.
  • Identifies operational improvements and recommends corrective actions.
  • Operates Water Distribution (WD) System to ensure it is operating effectively for the TteS Reserve. (45%)
  • Completes in-house safety procedures and ensures programs are maintained for safe work practices and occupational health and safety guidelines are adhered to for staff and visitors.
  • Records and performs sampling with current standard methods within the Water distribution system.
  • Monitors, interprets and responds to SCADA alarms; troubleshoots operational issues and recommends system improvements.
  • Collects, analyzes and maintains operational data and laboratory results, identifies trends and reports deficiencies requiring corrective action.
  • Completes safety procedures for construction, inspection and testing of water network elements, inspection of manholes and repairs to underground water main.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of types of motors, supervisory controls, pumps & valves, and other equipment.
  • Examines the condition of water distribution system (water mains, water reservoirs, ARDA raw water system, Paul Lake Dam), set up a water maintenance program, and safely use various methods to replace or repair damaged water system elements.
  • Drafts reports on computer, records maintenance and logbook entries of daily duties are required.
  • Completes Service Area annual reporting as per TteS Asset Management Policy/Bylaw.
  • Works closely with specialty companies contracted to perform work with WD operator on distribution system from time to time.
