The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) – Technical Lead at Summit Helicopters provides technical leadership, oversight, and subject-matter expertise for the Bell 407 and AS350 (AStar) fleets. Working closely with the Chief Engineer and Director of Maintenance, this role supports the planning, development, and execution of maintenance programs that ensure aircraft safety, reliability, and operational availability across base and field operations.
This position blends hands-on technical expertise, maintenance planning, and leadership, and includes field tours and travel to operational locations to provide technical support, oversight, and guidance to maintenance personnel as required.

Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide technical leadership and oversight for the Bell 407 and AS350 fleets
, acting as a key technical point of contact for maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical guidance.Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft, components, ground support equipment, and operational equipment in accordance with:
OEM maintenance data
Transport Canada regulations
Summit Helicopters’ MCM/MPM
Build, maintain, and review aircraft maintenance workbooks
; assist with planning upcoming inspections, heavy maintenance events, and parts forecasting.Support the development and review of maintenance alerts, technical notices, reliability data, and fleet-specific guidance
.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and complete follow-up verification.
Travel to operational and field locations, including short-term field tours
, to provide technical support, mentorship, and oversight to maintenance personnel.Coordinate parts, materials, tooling, and provisions to support aircraft operations, including base and remote field deployments.
Provide mentorship and technical leadership to apprentices and AMEs, including on-the-job coaching and skills development.
Support maintenance planning, task sequencing, and coordination with operations to ensure on-time return to service
.Ensure maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with Summit Helicopters’ safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Perform other related duties as required to support safe, compliant, and efficient maintenance operations.
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a licensed Helicopter Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME).
Demonstrated experience on Bell 407 and AS350 (AStar) aircraft.
Experience in field-based or operational helicopter maintenance environments.
Proven ability to provide technical leadership or supervisory support within a maintenance team.
Advanced troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems using OEM manuals, wiring diagrams, and fault-isolation procedures.
Strong understanding of Transport Canada regulations
, OEM maintenance programs, and Summit Helicopters’ MCM/MPM.Proven ability to certify aircraft for return to service (maintenance release) while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
Experience supporting scheduled inspections and heavy maintenance events, including work-scope planning and task coordination.
Strong mentorship, communication, and team-development skills.
Willingness and ability to travel as required to support field and operational maintenance needs.
Highly organized with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
This position is based in Kamloops, BC
