Job Summary
Join the Cascades Natural Resource District Engineering Team, a skilled group dedicated to keeping forest roads and bridges safe and functional across the Merritt and Lillooet Timber Supply Areas. This long‑standing team thrives on creativity and collaboration, working closely with Rights Holders, partners and stakeholders, and wildfire recovery efforts to deliver practical solutions in one of BC’s most stunning landscapes. The team contributes to projects that protect communities and support sustainable access to our forests.
The RoleWork on creating and managing contracts for road and bridge maintenance and installation, while inspecting Forest Service Roads to identify and prioritize repairs. This role blends technical expertise with problem‑solving, ensuring safe travel and protecting the environment on Forest Service Roads through thoughtful planning and execution. With a variety of projects – from storm recovery to wildfire rehabilitation – you’ll collaborate with specialists and see plans come to life, from concept to completion, helping make a real impact on communities and the natural landscape.
QualificationsEducation and Experience Requirements:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering, Natural Resource, or related field (i.e. chemical, metallurgical, forest engineering, survey geomatics, geoscience); or,
- Equivalent combination of education and experience in resource management related field.
- Registered or immediately eligible for registration (within six (6) months of employment) as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or related designation with Forest Professionals BC. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
Related
Experience:
- Work experience in a resource management field.
- Experience providing direction to contracted resources.
Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ engineering experience (gained in the last five (5) years).
- Experience and/or training in contract monitoring and administration.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
- Meets safety standards of WorkSafeBC.
- Conduct field work which may include travel by vehicle and/or outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Proficient in the use of an ATV and a snowmobile in various field conditions.
