Position Overview
The City of Kamloops is seeking a permanent, full-time Transportation Engineer to provide technical expertise and project management leadership in the planning, operation, and development of its transportation functions. The role reports to the Transportation Manager and is responsible for a broad range of transportation engineering functions, including traffic operations and studies, reviewing Traffic Impact Assessments (TIA’s), active transportation initiatives, transportation demand management programs, road safety improvements, and transit operations.
The Transportation Engineer works closely with internal departments, consultants, developers, and the public to ensure the safe, efficient, and sustainable movement of people and goods throughout the City. This position plays a key role in advancing strategic transportation plans, managing transportation-related capital projects, and supporting Council and community decision‑making through technical analysis and recommendations.
Qualifications
University degree in Civil Engineering.
Professional member of, or able to become a professional member of Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia, or registered as an Engineer‑in‑Training in the Province of British Columbia.
Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills and public relations skills.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Transportation Design/Traffic Engineering.
Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License (or equivalent).
Salary & Benefits

Hours & Days of Work
Monday – Friday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (37.5 hours per week)
