Project locations include Alberta and British Columbia, but may extend to other regions as required.
Key Responsibilities
Perform on-site constructability reviews during construction activities
Conduct field inspections and quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) activities for geotechnical and civil works
Coordinate and oversee testing and verification of geotechnical systems and installations
Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and design intent
Prepare field reports, inspection records, testing documentation, and daily summaries
Communicate directly with clients, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders
Identify field issues and assist in developing practical construction solutions
Support project planning, execution, and close-out activities
Participate in site meetings and provide technical support during construction
Maintain a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental requirements
Requirements
Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
Minimum 3 years of experience in construction oversight, field engineering, geotechnical inspection, or related work
Working knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and construction practices
Experience performing QA/QC inspections and preparing field documentation
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently in remote and active construction environments
Valid driver's licence and ability to travel extensively throughout project locations
Physically capable of working in challenging outdoor environments and accessing construction sites
Preferred
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration or eligibility for registration
Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation
Experience with design-build project delivery
Experience with :
Soil nails and ground anchors
Rockfall protection systems
Shotcrete applications
Slope stabilization and geohazard mitigation
Retaining structures
Earthworks and excavation support systems
Ground Disturbance Level II certification
CSTS, WHMIS, and First Aid certifications
Fall Protection certification
Rope Access certification (IRATA or SPRAT)
Experience working on transportation, mining, forestry, or infrastructure projects
Experience working in mountainous or remote environments
Work Environment
Primarily field-based position with the majority of time spent on active construction sites
Regular travel to project sites throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and other locations as required
Frequent work on active construction sites and in remote environments
Daily use of computers, engineering drawings, and digital project documentation
Participation in site inspections, client meetings, and project coordination activities
