Automation and Controls Engineer / Specialist

Location:

Kamloops, British Columbia.

We are building a new state‑of‑the‑art Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) facility and need an experienced engineer to develop and implement solutions that optimize production processes, improve plant safety, product quality, and throughput. Responsibilities include controlling standards, PLC/HMI programming, equipment commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and project support.

Qualifications
  • Trades certification with relevant experience or an engineering degree or an engineering technical diploma
    .
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in forest products.
  • Experience with PLC programming such as Allen Bradley, HMI or Rockwell (Rockwell Studio 5000 preferred).
  • Experience with Siemens considered an asset.
  • Experience with Human Machine Interfaces.
  • Proficient with Factory Talk software (View, Linx, Asset Centre, etc.).
  • Experience with industrial machine automation.
Responsibilities
  • Champion improvement initiatives for current products and processes.
  • Drive change through innovative process improvement.
  • Apply knowledge of statistical process control by running experimental trials and evaluations.
  • Leverage analytical ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Use strong interpersonal and leadership skills to build relationships and embed product quality and innovation in the mindset of others.
  • Be available for after‑hours support on a rotational basis.
