Reporting to the Integrated Planning & Production Superintendent, the Chief Production Geologist is responsible for leading the production geology team to maximize operational efficiency and improve decision making by providing critical geological information to support site production planning. This role is responsible for supplying orebody knowledge across four operating pits to guide mining operations, process control, and geometallurgy groups through the development of short- and mid-term block models.

This role is responsible for rock characterization (mapping, interpretation, and modelling), reverse-circulating drilling campaigns, updates to short- and mid-term block models for four operating pits, operational geometallurgy, QA/QC, and mining reconciliation.

To be successful, we are looking for a motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and proven experience overseeing and coordinating multiple internal resources and external consultants in high-functioning, collaborative teams. The candidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to develop and communicate practical recommendations to mine management, engineers, and operational personnel. Demonstrated experience with production geology processes, QA/QC, geological modelling, resource estimation, project control, managing consultants, and overseeing planning deliverables in integrated team environments is integral to the role.

The role provides significant opportunities to expand technical expertise, apply site-based geological skills, and lead production geology initiatives. The position includes both field and office-based work.

This role operates on an EDO schedule, working Monday to Thursday and biweekly on Fridays. The Chief Production Geologist works closely with Integrated Planning, Mine Operations, Mill Operations, Tailings and Water, and Teck’s corporate technical team.
