In this pivotal position within the Planning and Development Services Team, you will assess development applications, engage in research, and provide policy recommendations. Ideal candidates will have a university degree in planning and experience in a municipal setting, with strong skills in communication and problem solving. Your expertise will play a crucial role in shaping Merritt’s social and economic landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and evaluate development applications

• Meet with applicants to discuss project proposals

• Conduct research supporting policy recommendations

• Maintain mapping systems with GIS provider

• Interpret and explain relevant Acts and Regulations

Requirements:

• University degree in planning with municipal experience

• 3 years of experience in a municipal environment preferred

• Demonstrated experience processing development applications

• Communication and negotiation skills essential

• Valid BC Drivers’ License and clean driving record
