Wage Range: $27.54 to $31.61 based on education and related experience

Position Summary:
The Adult Addiction Supportive Housing (AASH) Recovery Support Worker has distinct roles due to the two different perspective programs we provide. The Adult Addiction Supportive Housing (AASH) program provides recovery supports and housing to those individuals who have successfully gone through detox and wish further assistance to live a life of sobriety. As an AASH Tenant Support Worker, you will work in collaboration with the Peer Recovery Support Coaches, Alcohol and Drug Counsellor and the Supportive Recovery and Career Development Team to build rapport and support Program Participants to develop the skills to move on to independent living based on their personal recovery plan.
Service delivery is based on a client centered, trauma informed, and non-judgmental perspective.
Duties Include:
- Collaborate with the Supportive Recovery and Career Development Program Team to develop, implement, maintain, and adjust treatment/recovery plans and assist Program Participants in developing and achieving the goals outlined within their individualized treatment/recovery plan.
- Provide care within the interdisciplinary model through trauma-informed practice, two-eyed seeing practice, harm reduction, and a recovery-oriented care approach.
- Work with local health authority to review potential participant applications and conduct referral interviews.
- Implement life skills workshops and psychoeducation groups relevant to substance use cessation.
- Assist Program Participants seeking recovery from substance use disorders to assist in the creation of their own recovery plans and develop their own recovery pathways.
- Assist with the meal preparation program including but not limited to daily kitchen activities, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, monitoring/ordering, and stocking.
- Encourage and support Program Participants to live as fully and independently as possible within the local community, providing information, emotional, organizational, and practical support, and training as appropriate.
- Contribute to the protection of Program Participants from abuse, and support Participants when they are in distress.
- Encourage and motivate Program Participants to develop a sense of their own identity, purpose, and self-esteem.
- Work closely with referral agencies (i.e. CMHA, IHA, Friendship Centre, Brain Injury, etc.).
- Actively seek the views of Program Participants and involve them in decision-making to improve their services and accommodations. ASK Wellness Society Mission: to provide outreach, housing, health, education, employment, and emotional support services for the marginalized and persons at risk.
- Monitor emergencies that take place such as medical or mental health assistance and complete necessary incident reports.
- When necessary, be trained to be the first to respond to an overdose situation with on-the-spot overdose response and support.
- Be prepared to work calmly and together with your team, paramedics, and police in crisis situations.
- Ensure Limitation of Service Notices are completed and current.
- Help maintain a clean and organized workspace by doing light housekeeping in the office space.
- Monitor and move along with community members who are loitering in and around the property.
- Assist and encourage clients to create connections within the community by volunteering and finding employment.
