About Highland Valley CopperHighland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open‑pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi‑autogenous grinding and flotation. Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC offer abundant outdoor experiences.
Role OverviewReporting to the General Supervisor, Mine Maintenance, the Field Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing operational maintenance calls, supervising various trades in the field, and progressing reliability initiatives in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner.
To be successful in this role we require a motivated self‑starter with a solid technical and supervisory background in mobile mining equipment, ideally in a mechanical capacity. You will have the skills to interpret maintenance calls and categorize them by urgency, handle competing priorities, meet deadlines, and positively contribute to a dynamic team environment. In addition, we are looking for strong attention to detail, adaptability, and an upbeat personality with a strong interest in continuous improvement.
Most importantly you will need to have a strong dedication to customer happiness and outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Supervise various trades in the field.
- Improve employee work performance and efficiency through supervision, completing evaluations, mentoring, and coaching.
- Maintain communication with the operations dispatchers, asset health specialists, and HD shop to ensure efficient operations.
- Triage and manage break‑in work.
- Organize and manage AMT (Autonomous Mining Truck) calibrations.
- Drive execution of Reliability initiatives such as the Leak Management program.
- Provide daily reporting of field repairs and downed equipment.
- Build work orders for break‑in and future scheduled work.
- Complete pit tours including road quality inspections and visual inspections of equipment operating practices.
- Assist in safety investigations when required.
- Pre‑ference given to Red Seal ticketed HD mechanic or equivalent technologist with a minimum five years of trades experience with mobile mining equipment.
- Previous supervisor experience or team leading experience.
- Previous dispatch experience is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, resolve issues, and drive accountability.
- Excellent digital literacy in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Previous experience with Wenco, Minestar, and Grafana would be an asset.
- BC Mines Supervisor Certificate is considered an asset.
Pay Range: CAD $108,000 – $133,000 per year. The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Working Conditions- Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50‑minute drive from Kamloops, which provides all the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small‑town community atmosphere.
- Access: This is a drive‑in/drive‑out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
