Manager, Corporate Communications

Simpcw Resources Group is seeking an experienced Manager, Corporate Communications to lead and oversee the organization's Communications Department. This role is based in our Barriere BC office and is responsible for developing and executing enterprise-wide communications strategies while providing leadership, direction, and mentorship to a growing communications team.

Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, the Communications Manager will oversee all aspects of internal and external communications, corporate branding, media relations, digital communications, social media, content development, community engagement, stakeholder relations, and organizational storytelling across SRG's businesses and operations. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader and trusted advisor who can build a high-performing team, strengthen SRG's brand and reputation, and ensure communications support the organization's long-term vision and business objectives.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive communications, public relations, marketing, or corporate communications experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing communications professionals or marketing and communications teams.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic communications plans and campaigns.
  • Experience leading communications initiatives within a complex, multi-division organization.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of branding, reputation management, media relations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience managing websites, social media platforms, digital communications, and content strategies.
  • Experience developing communication materials for executive leadership, employees, community members, clients, partners, and government stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational, and budget management skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, or governments is considered a strong asset.
  • Photography, videography, graphic design, or content production experience is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Communications Department Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing communications team.
  • Establish departmental priorities, goals, work plans, and performance measurements aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain communications staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support employee growth and development.
  • Oversee departmental workload planning, resource allocation, and project prioritization.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage departmental budgets, external consultants, agencies, and service providers.
  • Serve as the organization's communications subject matter expert and strategic advisor to leadership.
Strategic Communications
  • Develop and implement SRG's corporate communications strategy.
