Merritt Food Sovereignty Coordinator Position

Location: Merritt

Contribute to Indigenous food initiatives as a Food Sovereignty Coordinator in Merritt, British Columbia with LNIB. Focus on community meal services, food education, and enhancing food security.

This role requires strong organizational skills and experience in community programming related to food systems. You will be tasked with developing food sovereignty initiatives and collaborating with community members and Elders to promote cultural practices. Your work will enhance food access and improve community wellness through effective programming.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and coordinate food sovereignty and community meal initiatives

• Facilitate food education workshops and traditional harvesting

• Support community kitchen operations and logistics

• Manage food distribution processes for community supplies

• Build strong partnerships with community and cultural organizations

Requirements:

• 2-5 years in related community or food security roles

• Demonstrated knowledge of traditional food systems

• Excellent project management and communication skills

• Familiarity with food safety practices

• Commitment to cultural and community development initiatives

Support food sovereignty and wellness initiatives with the Lower Nicola Indian Band in Merritt.
