Join Excel Society as a Knowledge Keeper to uplift Indigenous and Inuit youth in the Northwest Territories. Use your lived experiences to foster cultural identity and understanding through knowledge sharing.
This role seeks individuals recognized as Elders or Knowledge Keepers who are committed to mentoring and supporting youth and adults in their cultural journeys. You will provide guidance through traditional teachings and facilitate land-based learning opportunities, enhancing the cultural connection within the community. Working collaboratively, you'll be part of a dedicated team focusing on person-centered support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Guide individuals in cultural teachings and practices
• Support staff in understanding Indigenous cultures
• Facilitate land-based cultural connection experiences
• Promote mutual respect and awareness across the organization
• Assist in strengthening cultural identity for individuals
Requirements:
• Acknowledged Elder or Knowledge Keeper in the community
• Respected voice with lived cultural knowledge
• Experience in mentorship roles with youth/adults
• Capacity to share teachings respectfully
• Knowledge of cultural revitalization and intergenerational trauma
