Dawson Construction is looking for Quality Control Technician who will ensure that all quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications.
In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Construction, working in a seasonal, full‑time position of Quality Control Technician
, reporting to the Manager, Quality Control
. This position is a critical part of the Dawson Construction Quality Control Team and plays an active part in our Quality Management System (QMS). The ideal candidate will effectively work with customers, both internal and external, to provide a valued service as an industry expert in quality services. Your base location will be Kamloops, BC and will require travel throughout our great province.
Success Looks Like
- Conduct in‑field materials testing on active construction sites, ensuring work meets project specifications and applicable standards
- Perform soil, and asphalt testing in a laboratory setting in accordance with established procedures and industry standards (e.g., ASTM, CSA)
- Prepare accurate, well‑documented test reports and field records using Microsoft Word and Excel, and maintain organized project files
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with project managers, clients, and contractors to support seamless project delivery
- Identify non‑conformances and communicate findings clearly and promptly to the appropriate parties
- Work flexible hours to meet project timelines and site schedules
- Safely lift, transport, and handle testing equipment and material samples weighing up to 45–50 lbs as a regular part of the role
- Experience in materials testing, civil construction, or a related quality assurance/quality control field
- Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and an understanding of how quality processes support project success
- Strong administrative and document control skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to produce clear, professional reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging technical and non‑technical stakeholders alike
- Ability to work independently in the field while staying aligned with team standards and project requirements
- Willingness and ability to travel and work out of town for extended periods based on project requirements
- Class 5 Driver’s License is required
